Hope RS 4 Hubs | Good news from Hope delivered at Eurobike 2016, they’ve released a specific series of hubs to cater for roadies and road / CX / gravel riders who want to ride a UK manufactured hub but we concerned (disturbed?!) by the noise of a traditional Hope hub. We’re pleased to see a centre lock option as we see more and more bikes specced with Ice Tech Shimano centre lock rotors as standard. See full release below, we will list them as soon as we receive details of pricing and weights too.
Key points – less noise, now centre lock ready, 6 colour choices.
Hope RS4 Centre Lock hubs are now listed in the Road Disc section of the website too.
Hope RS4 Hubs
For many years we have been using our proven MTB technology on our road hubs. This gave the hubs amazing reliability whatever the weather or road conditions. The new Hope RS4 hub is a little different. These hubs have been created as a road/cyclocross hub right from the initial concept. They still maintain Hopes legendary reliability but by using a two pawl ratchet mechanism we have created a drive with significantly less drag and as a result, a quieter freehub.
As well as non-disc and 6 bolt disc versions we have produced our first centre lock hubs, although as anyone who has followed Hope from the beginning knows, these are not our first splined disc fitting hubs. Hope’s initial disc brakes back in the early ’90s were all mounted on splined hubs, although using a different profile.
The Hope RS4 hubs are available non-disc or with centre-lock or 6-bolt disc fixings and end-cap kits to switch between QR, 10mm/12mm/15mm thru-axles, as well as 135mm and 142mm widths. The hubs come with a 44 point freewheel engagement, sealed stainless steel cartridge bearings and are Shimano 9/10/11 speed and Campaganolo compatible.
The RS4 non disc hub comes in 20/24/28/32/36H spoked versions for the rear and 16/18/20/24/28/32/36 spoke count front, 24/28/32h conventional flange centre lock disc hub spoke choices, while the straight pull hub has a 24 only spoke count. All hubs are available in Hope’s six anodised colours.
