Having taken a bit of a mid season break from the bike (to get married) I kick started my preparation for the upcoming races (including a couple of grueling stage races in the Welsh hills) with a short training camp out in Spain.
Sunday the 19th of May saw the 2nd round of the Southern XC Series, this round was the Southern Area Championships. I was on the hunt for the title of Southern Expert champion!
Strada’s sponsored ride Chris Noble reports from a successful 12 hour race at Erlestoke.
Chris Noble has just emailed over a report on his new XC / 24 hr race bike. Strada Wheels helped with sourcing the Lefty fork and built the XC carbon tubeless wheels for him. Chris is racing at the 12hr Championships this weekend
Howard ordered a pair of wheels for his disc based cyclocross bike. We opted for 23mm wide Major Tom tubular rims, Sapim D-Light spokes combined with Sapim Race on the rear drive side and Novatec XC hubs. A light good value package indeed. Here is Howard’s report and a photo –
Here are a pair of ENVE SMART 3.4 clincher wheels we built recently for a customer. He selected Chris King R45 hubs in red and Sapim CX Ray spokes in black. A particularly fine combination of components makes this a great pair of all rounder wheels.
The Switch – after a very successful season on the domestic middle distance triathlon circuit during which I was crowned national champion I have decided to change focus a little for 2013.
I was impressed by the wheels straight away. To start off I was a bit worried about fitting my tyres because the rims were not tubeless ready (the new version will be tubeless ready however). I had nothing to worry about though. My tyres (Schwalbe Rocket Ron) fitted and sealed on the first try.
Here’s a lovely looking WyndyMilla all black custom fitted Massive Attack with Ultegra DI2 build and a pair H Plus Son Archetype wheels with Sapim bladed CX Ray spokes and Hope Pro Road 3 hubs.
A local rider liked the carbon rims from his Roval carbon 29er wheels but wanted to swap out the hubs for his favourite American Classics. So we stripped the rims and re-laced them with American Classic 210g rear and 130g front hubs with Sapim CX Ray spokes and red alloy nipples.
