The Big Fella Deluxe

This is the Deluxe version of our popular Big Fella wheelset that is hand built in our workshop in West Sussex. If you are 100kg+ or are looking for the strongest wheels around, then you have found them. We use a high quality rim and hub, laced in 32 hole 3 cross front and rear for maximum strength. These strong wheels are a respectable 1985 grams for a pair. Supplied with rim tape fitted and our true for life warranty.

The Big Fella Deluxe Specs

Rims

For the Big Fella Deluxe we use the DT Swiss RR511 is a good looking 32mm deep rim at a respectable weight.

    • A high-quality, robust semi-aero road rim with a 18 mm internal width / 22mm outer ideal for modern road tyres.
    • 32 mm deep section boosts aero performance and enhances mud shedding for cyclocross use.
    • Strength Boost Welding Technology creates a perfectly welded join for a durable, reliable rim.
    • Machined sidewalls for powerful braking on a consistent sidewall surface.
    • Wear indicators show the extent of sidewall wear.
    • PHR washers assist the ABS nipples to naturally align perfectly with your chosen spokes, increasing stiffness and durability with no weight penalty over traditional eyeleted rims.
    • Unique process for the black coating produces a tough and durable finish.

Hubs

For the Big Fella Deluxe wheelset we use the DT Swiss 350 road hubs. These offer quality press fit bearings that are easy to service. The DT 350 is available in Shimano/Sram or Campagnolo, 8-9-10-11 speed free hub configurations.

The DT Swiss 350 road hub is perfect for the rider looking for a high performance hub at a competitive price point. The DT Swiss 350 line offers the same manufacturing quality and design features found in its higher end counterpart, the DT Swiss 240s. The main difference between the hub lines stems from the fact that the 240s has been machine optimised for weight savings and the 350 has not.

DT’s 350 hubs have earned their legendary reputation for quality and performance. There are multiple features that make this product a winner. The Ratchet System® driver mechanism is extremely durable, reliable. It can be serviced without special tools in minutes, thanks to its simple press fit assembly.

The 350’s press fit assembly,   allows the hub to work in almost any currently existing axle configuration, therefore, making them compatible with almost every bike. The contact free seals and high precision build guarantee smooth bearings; every bit of the rider’s energy is transformed into forward momentum. These features and the super lightweight design of all the hub parts highlights the racing legacy of this classic hub.

Ratchets

Two high precision star ratchets ensure quick and safe engagements and are ultra reliable. The press fit assembly allows for quick and easy servicing.

Freehubs

On all DT Swiss Ratchet System® hubs the rotor body is exchangeable without tools.

Spokes + nipples

We use black bladed spokes which are light and strong plus a silver plated brass plated nipple with a plastic insert.

Braking

We recommend Swissstop BXP pads for improved performance and reduced rim wear.
